Text 1:
this text is a very professional seeming business journal written by Danny Feinstein and Colin Ramsay, two college students at the Berklee college of music. this text talks about how EDM has risen from the sidelines of music genres and taken such a huge jump in the rankings. Showing how EDM has evolved and Explaining how this new age of technology is helping to slingshot it's popularity are some of the other key points. The largest chunk of information this text seems to focus on is the Business of EDM. Their final topic carries out three full paragraphs of information while other topics had one or two. After reading through this text i have concluded that the authors of this article did not appear to be biased in any way, besides not showing any of the negative data that has been collected over the years regarding drug use and other such taboos. this text did not address those issues which could have been a conscious choice if they are trying to add more hype to EDM.

This texts name seems very promising in terms of conflict. As i read through this text i was getting the fix on the topic of drug use in EDM culture. Derek Staples, The author of this text, explains how he goes to multiple festivals and shows learning all about the culture that goes on there. It becomes increasingly obvious that Staples believes the new age of EDM is led by young adults hooked on drugs. these two texts will work very well for me in that they have quite opposing views on the new uprise of EDM

ReplyDeleteThere are some good things happening here. My main concern is that you make sure in the summary portion you stay as neutral as possible. Remember, the summary will be separate from the analysis. So, be sure with both of these articles that with the summary you state the main point of the article then include the details/main points that the author(s) use to support that main point. Really show the connections and emphasize that these points are how the author's build their point. That's it. Just report the facts--what is the article about and how is that point made.
Then the analysis is where you can comment on the effectiveness, strengths and weaknesses of the article etc.
